About Us

My plaid obsession started in 1985 with an addition of a tiny five week old Westie puppy to our family. Riley Anne quickly stole our hearts. Four years later we added more excitement to our family with Corkey, our first Scottie.  In 2002, a five week old Matelyn Rose came to join the Carter Clan, a birthday present from my husband. The best present I have ever received!   Miss Mattie, my shadow and constant companion, ruled the household as all of you canine lovers understand for 15 1/2 years.  She attended every dog show and convention with me.  All three girls have gone to Rainbow Bridge after long (and very spoiled) lives.

In the fall of 2011, I convinced my husband that we needed to adopt a 7 month old abused Scottie rescue from STLSTR.  Maisie, our resident monkey, added much humor to our family.  There isn't anything she hasn't tried!  In 2016, a STLSTR picture of an abandoned 12 year old little Scottie girl melted my heart.  This prompted a quick trip to St. Louis and Lacie immediately joined our family.  Two years later, after a tough fight with Bladder Cancer, Little Lacie (affectionally known as Half Pint) joined the other girls at Rainbow Bridge.  In October we traveled to Virginia to see the precious 8 month old Peck sisters, Itty Bitty and Maddie.  When we headed home, Maddie was in the backseat with Maisie!  Thank you for allowing us to leave with your precious puppy, Marilyn!   Maddie and Maisie have become bestest buddies.  These two girls have formed the PFL (Pesky Florida Lizard) Eradication Corp.  Their goal is to rid the state of these pesky lizards one at a time!  In Oct of 2020, the girls and I were already in Florida.  My husband was joining us once the Indiana mowing was completed for the year.  He happened to see a former puppy mill mama that had been picked up by STLSTR rescue.  After a few Emails, he made the 6 hour round trip to get the little girl.  Mollie had joined our family.  She is very timid and afraid of so very many things due to her three years in an abusive puppy mill.  We are slowly gaining her trust and she is fitting in perfectly with our two girls.  in June of 2024 we lost our sweet Maisie to a stroke.  She was my shadow and leader of the pack and we miss her terribly.  Every one of our girls has had very different personalities and we have loved them all equally.  My girls always travel with me.  I live by the motto, "If my Scotties can't go, I don't go!"

I have been appliquéing since 1984, selling at a local store and various craft shows. When the National Rotating Scottish Terrier Specialty Show came to Louisville in 2005, I applied  to be a vendor. All Things Plaid began. I was well received and have been concentrating on Scottie shirts and tartan dog collars and leashes ever since.  Basically if I can sew on it, there will be a Scottie appliqued on it somewhere.  I have found Scottish Terrier people to be just as loyal, loving, and faithful as their little dogs. (I won’t mention the stubborn and independent traits!) Terrier people are truly a “one of a kind” people and we are blessed to know each and every one of you!
